Smaller Ensembles

We have an ensemble for just about every instrument - if there isn’t one that fits what you do, why don’t you talk to us about setting one up? These ensembles can most commonly be found performing in the Ensembles Concerts which are held in the Autumn and Spring Terms.

Percussion Ensemble is open to all percussionists, and rehearses on Monday lunchtimes in the Percussion Room. It is run by Mr Osborn and is always a show-stealer in the Ensembles Concert!

Guitar Ensemble is for students who play the classical guitar and is run by Mr Legg. It meets on Wednesday lunchtimes in the Recital Room.

Clarinet Ensemble is for intermediate and advanced clarinettists and meets on Thursday lunchtimes in M3. Mr Hare runs this group. Mr Goddard also frequently organises ensemble music for clarinettists.

Saxophone Ensemble is for intermediate and advanced saxophonists and is run by Miss Hutchins. It meets on Thursday lunchtimes in M2.

Brass Ensemble is run by Mr Maxwell and meets on Monday lunchtimes in the Recital Room. Intermediate and advanced brass players are welcome to join.

Horn Ensemble is for French Horn players and meets with Mr Stott on Wednesdays before school in the Recital Room.

Flute Ensembles exist for both advanced and intermediate players, run by Mrs Myall. Intermediate flautists rehearse on Mondays at 4.00, and the Seniors, being early morning types, meet on Fridays before school.

Chamber Music Ensembles are run by Mr Rushby, Mr Hare and Miss Redman. These ensembles range from string quartets to wind and piano groups. We’ve also run a harp ensemble.

Most of these groups are for intermediate or advanced players - if you are not yet at an intermediate level, you should look into joining ISO or CB2 to gain your ensemble experience.
