Welcome to the Sixth Form @ RGS

At Reigate Grammar School, we believe that the Sixth Form should be a time for serious study as well as extensive opportunities for enrichment. We therefore offer our students the chance to excel academically, and thus prepare themselves for life at university, at the same time as developing their own leadership skills and experience with a wide range of activities.

Obtaining excellent qualifications is a fundamental aim but this is balanced with the aim of developing personal qualities through involvement in activities such as the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme, the Combined Cadet Force, music, drama and sport.

Our academic courses are AS and A2 Levels; we do not offer vocational qualifications. However, we do offer an exciting and wide range of subjects to choose from at each level, alongside our unique non-examined course 6plus, which provides the finishing touches to an RGS education.

We have always valued the time outside formal lessons when students can discuss their work informally, study independently or relax with their friends. This is when the resources of the school, such as the Sixth Form Centre (with separate ICT facilities), the ICT Department, and the Library are available. Students can develop their interests with others at this time and also the study skills and time management which will be important to their success at university.

The Sixth Form in an 11 - 18 school like RGS also offers the opportunity to take responsibility for younger pupils. Prefects and mentors are all involved with organising and supporting the activities of younger pupils, especially those new to the school, and we believe that these activities are of great benefit to all involved, including new entrants to the school at Sixth Form level.

Above all, we are keen for our students to enjoy their time at the school. Great opportunities exist just to have fun with other like-minded students, in bands, choirs and orchestras, games teams, on Duke of Edinburgh hikes, trips abroad, drama productions and so on.
