Tours
Musicians from RGS tour abroad every year, and we tend to alternate instrumental and choral tours, so that anyone involved with music at school can have the opportunity to travel on tour with us. Students who have been on RGS Music Tours usually say that these are the best and most memorable experiences of their musical careers at school. In addition to foreign tours, the Chamber Orchestra often visits Bryanston School in Dorset for an intensive course.

Shows
Every two years the Music Department collaborates with the Drama Department on a major musical. In 2011 we collaborated on a Junior Musical - ‘Seussical’ - for the first time in a number of years. Additionally, RGS musicians provide the musicians in the bands for these musicals and also for school plays such as 2010’s ‘Nicholas Nickleby’.

Music Trips
We believe that seeing live music is vital for all of our students, and arrange frequent trips to concerts in London. Recently, students have been to English National Opera, the Wigmore Hall, the Barbican, the Royal Albert Hall and the Royal Festival Hall. We have also been to see our fair share of West End Musicals such as Rent, The Producers, Chicago, Hairspray, Blood Brothers, Sweeney Todd and We Will Rock You.
