Events
Several concerts are presented each term, both in school
and further afield:
There is a regular series of Informal Concerts, which
take place after school in the Recital Room, and which
give individuals the opportunity to perform in a more relaxed
setting.
There are at least two major concerts each term,
either in school, at a local church or, once a year, at
the Dorking
Halls. Our Autumn Orchestral Concert will take place on the 18th November 2010, in the Harlequin Theatre, and the 2011 Dorking Halls Concert is on 24th March.
At the end of the
summer term, the RGS Summer Festival gives further
opportunities for performances, ending with the Summer
Serenade.
Each year one or more of our groups go on a foreign
tour to extend their musical experience. In the
summer of 2010 the RGS Symphony Orchestra will be
going to Geneva.
Once every two years, the Music and Drama departments mount
a musical production. In fact, the Music
Department provides music for a large proportion of the plays
staged at RGS. In the Autumn Term of 2005, we produced Les
Miserables to enormous acclaim, and the Autumn
Term 2006 began with a student-produced musical entitled I
love you, you're perfect, now change. West Side
Story was performed to packed houses in
December 2007 as was Anything Goes in 2009. The next major musical will take place in
late 2011. In Spring 2011, Reigate Grammar School will stage it's first Junior Musical production.
