There is a regular series of Informal Concerts, which take place after school in the Recital Room, and which give individuals the opportunity to perform in a more relaxed setting. We also hold RGS Unplugged twice a year, where bands get to perform without the help of amplification or electricity!

There are at least two major concerts each term, either in school, at a local church or, once a year, at the Dorking Halls and the Harlequin Theatre, Redhill.

At the end of the summer term, the RGS Summer Festival gives further opportunities for performances, including An Evening With The Swing Band and Festival Evensong.

Each year one or more of our groups go on a foreign tour to extend their musical experience. Recent tours have been to Lake Garda, the Moselle Valley, Vienna and Geneva and Rome. In February 2012, the Concert Band toured in Holland, performing in The Hague and Amsterdam. In July 2013 members of RGS Singers and Polyphony will travel to New York and Washington DC.

Once every two years, the Music and Drama departments mount a musical production. In fact, the Music Department provides music for a large proportion of the plays staged at RGS. In the Autumn Term of 2005, we produced Les Miserables to enormous acclaim, and West Side Story was performed to packed houses in 2007, as was Anything Goes in 2009. The first Junior Musical was Seussical, performed in March 2011, and in December 2011 we presented The Producers.
