The Curriculum

At Reigate Grammar School, all students study four subjects throughout the Sixth Form to A2 level. No AS modules are sat in the Lower Sixth. They will take place in either January or June of the Upper Sixth.

Coursework for either AS or A2 may be completed and submitted at any point during the two years, at the discretion of each Head of Department. The same applies to practical and oral examinations.

If it is considered to be in a student's best interests to cut back to 3 A2 subjects, the parents, the Head of Sixth Form and the relevant Head of Department will disuss this with the student. This decision will be made after the Upper Sixth January exams. However, please keep in mind that, due to the assessment arrangements for individual subjects, it may not be possible to drop a particular subject after January in the Upper Sixth.

The A Level points score, or tariff, gives points values for A Levels. For example, an A grade at A Level is worth 120 points, a B grade at A level is worth 100 points and so on. An AS examination is worth half the equivalent A Level grade, and the upper limit on points (traditionally “your best three A Levels ”) has been abandoned.
